Burress posts $100K bail on weapons charges

Plaxico Burress has appeared in court on weapons possession charges stemming from an accidental shooting at a Manhattan nightclub.

Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Felicia Mennin set bail at $100,000 and ordered Burress to return March 31.

Defense lawyer Benjamin Brafman argued for no bail, saying: “He has 35 million reasons to come back to court” - referring to his $35 million contract with the Giants.

Cowboys sign Battle; DB could play Thursday

Dallas signed defensive back Tra Battle off San Diego’s practice squad Wednesday, and he could play Thursday for the Cowboys.

The Cowboys created a roster spot for Battle when they placed put rookie running back Felix Jones on injured reserve.

Coach Wade Phillips said Battle, who played only one game for the Chargers after signing as an undrafted free agent last year, could play on special teams against Seattle.
