LaDainian Tomlinson missed his second straight day of practice because of a jammed right big toe as the San Diego Chargers prepare for Monday night’s home game against the New York Jets.

Coach Norv Turner doesn’t know if Tomlinson will practice on Friday.

“He’ll come out like he did today, move around a little bit, get treatment, do exercises inside, and I’m sure if he feels like he can go, he will,” Turner said.

Maybe the fantasy geeks should be worried after all.

With his toe injury lingering, LaDainian Tomlinson sat out Wednesday’s short practice as the winless San Diego Chargers began preparing for their home game against Brett Favre and the New York Jets on Monday night.

Tomlinson, who has yet to find his way into the end zone this season, said his jammed right big toe isn’t as sore as it has been, but he didn’t sound overly confident.

Tomlinson was hurt during Sunday’s 26-24 loss to Carolina. He returned to practice Friday after sitting out the previous two days.

Coach Norv Turner said Tomlinson took approximately half the practice repetitions.

“I thought there were times he looked tentative and there were times he looked good,” Turner said.

LaDainian Tomlinson missed his second day of practice Thursday because of a sprained right big toe but said he’d be back Friday as the San Diego Chargers continue preparing for their game Sunday at Denver.

“I’m all right; I will practice tomorrow,” Tomlinson said. “It’s just a sprained toe, that’s all. But you try and get as much rest as you can and you have to take it. It’s the heat of the season - you don’t really have time. You got games; it’s not preseason any more.
